The CYA has come to an arrangement with Yachting NZ to issue alpha-numeric sail numbers to CYA members’ yachts in the Auckland Provincial Yacht & Motor Boat Association sequence abandoned on the introduction of national numbers in 1970.
YNZ will recognize these numbers for racing and identification purposes. The rules of issue are listed in the Alpha Numeric Sail Number Policy (see below) and applications are invited for consideration.
First in the queue was Jason Prew claiming Wairiki’s original Auckland number, C5.
It would be nice to see Queenie wearing C1 again, Scout C2, Gale C4, Peri/TusiTala C6, not to mention Janet C11 and Gleam C22.
